Gilroy Foundation Grant Process

The Foundation’s grant process is open and fair and continually reviewed. Prospective funding

recipients who apply to the Gilroy Foundation are thoroughly researched and evaluated. Since

1982, over $900,000 has been awarded in grants and scholarships. Foundation grants have made

a positive and powerful difference in every sphere of life in the community. For example:

  • Increasing the self-sufficiency of children and families
  • Building the capacity of students to excel in school
  • Promoting the physical, mental and social health of all individuals
  • Enriching the cultural life of the community
  • Improving the environment
  • Helping to revitalize blighted and fragmented neighborhoods

How to Apply for a Grant

Each December, nonprofits on the Foundation’s database are contacted by email or letter with

an invitation to apply for a grant. Those organizations, or any other nonprofits with a 501c(3)

status, must download a current application form from the website. Or, organizations may call the

Foundation offices to request a current application by mail.

Seven sets of the grant application shall be submitted to the Foundation by posted mail,

postmarked no later than January 31..

Organizations are notified of their status by the end of March and grants are awarded at our

Annual Meeting and Grants Presentation in April of each year.

Nonprofit, 501c(3), organizations who are not currently on the Foundation’s database, or those

wishing to update their mailing information, may do so via email from this website:

www.gilroyfoundation.org.

If it wasn’t for the Foundation helping us and giving us the funding, it would have been

a lot more difficult getting this program off the ground. And, applying for the grant was

not a difficult process. The Foundation asks for your success rates. They have a very

efficient process of giving out the money. They have to look for an impact. They’re

knowledgeable about what the community’s needs are.”
