What is “A Day in the Country?”

The signature event of the Gilroy Foundation, this annual fundraiser began in 1988 as a daytime event auctioning off primarily wines procured for that purpose. It was designed to bring awareness of the Gilroy Foundation to the community. Not expecting to make money—just friends—we brought in $25,000! Over the years it has evolved into an evening gala, offering exciting trips, works of art, sports memorabilia and fine wines to our guests. We are grateful to Board members and friends of the Foundation who step up each year to chair the event, each bringing their own special talents and committee help to produce an exciting, eventful and very successful event for the Gilroy Foundation.

Proceeds from the event support the programs of the Gilroy Foundation. This year’s theme, “Run for the Roses,” gives a nod to the beautiful rolling hills of Lexington, KY—horse country. Chairs, Matt Titus and Rachel Traylor have been hard at work with their committees, and Gilroy Foundation Event Coordinator Yesenia Gonzalez, to procure auction items that will surely tempt our guests to keep that paddle raised high throughout the evening!

What is the date and time?

This year’s venue, the Event Pavilion at Gilroy Gardens, is a beautiful setting for our early fall event on Ocotber 7 at 5PM. The pavilion is covered and we are prepared for cooler evenings, but Mother Nature could have other ideas! When you arrive, you will have the opportunity to peruse the items of the Silent Auction while sipping a complimentary mint julep, the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby. Local vintners will be pouring their offerings at this time, also. So, grab your glass and start bidding. You’ll be given your bidder number at Reception as you arrive, so get ready to use it.

Silent Auction tables will close at different times, so be sure to listen to the emcees instructions. You will then be asked to take your seat at which time dinner will be served. During this time, you’ll hear from our Auction Chairs and a bit more about the good work of the Gilroy Foundation. Once guests have enjoyed their meals, Guest Auctioneer Jayson Stebbins will grab the mic and get guests to start raising those paddles—we have some GREAT Live Auction items to bid on. Following the Live Auction, the drawing for the Getaway Raffle will take place—will YOU be the winner?

You’ll be able to pay for your purchased items at Finance as you leave with wonderful memories of a beautiful evening, supporting the Gilroy Foundation.

What is a Getaway Raffle?
